Meet Kendall Chiate - Founder
It all started with a love of the outdooors.
For Kendall, great outdoor spaces have always been more than just beautiful — they’re where life’s best moments happen.
A lifelong lover of the outdoors, she believes a well-designed yard should invite people to slow down, connect, and create memories that last.
Kendall entered the landscape design world in 2020 after several years in real estate, where she discovered her passion for visual composition and staging. That inspiration led her to study interior design and take a position as a design coordinator at a prominent landscape design agency. Watching the designers work just clicked — it sparked her love for landscape design and ultimately inspired her to launch Hideaway Design Collective, where she helps homeowners turn everyday backyards into their favorite retreat.
Kendall’s design process feels like solving a puzzle — especially with complex or uniquely shaped yards — and she thrives on creating harmony between natural textures, thoughtful functionality, and the calming greens that make outdoor spaces so restorative.
Raised in Orange County and inspired by time spent in the wide-open beauty of Montana and Colorado, Kendall brings both coastal ease and mountain soul to her work. A former college rodeo barrel racer, she still spends time with her retired horse, Tequila, and enjoys being active outdoors — whether that’s a game of pickleball or a weekend hike.
For Kendall, the real impact of landscape design goes beyond curb appeal. It’s about helping people create the kind of home everyone wants to come back to — where the kids gather, friends linger by the fire, and the best memories are made under the open sky.
